Ferry Farm Community Solar has partnered with the National Energy Foundation to offer local residents over 80% funding towards Home Energy Retrofit Options (HERO) plans.

NEF is an independent energy charity which has partnered with Ferry Farm Community Solar to offer retrofit plans for 18 local households in Selsey and Sidlesham.

Each plan normally costs £420 (including VAT), but thanks to Ferry Farm’s , residents will only pay £60, we’ll cover the rest.

Our goal is to help local people take meaningful steps towards cutting energy bills and reducing carbon emissions, while gathering a representative picture of housing in the area.

“Knowing where heat was escaping means I can now take meaningful steps to better insulate.”A Selsey resident

What is a HERO Plan?

Fundamentally, a HERO Plan is an independent audit of your home’s energy use, running costs and carbon footprint. It assesses your home’s current performance and identifies cost-effective improvements.

You’ll receive tailored recommendations from simple, low-cost actions to major upgrades.

What will your HERO Plan cover?

Your personalised plan will assess:

  • Insulation and building fabric improvements

  • Windows and draught proofing

  • Ventilation

  • Heating system efficiency

  • Renewable energy options

Each plan also includes one-to-one consultation time with an expert assessor, who will help you identify priorities and create a realistic improvement plan. For those who want extra help, the National Energy Foundation can also provide support with getting quotes and understanding funding options for an additional fee.

Who can benefit?

These plans are ideal for:

  • Homeowners planning a renovation now or in the future

  • Those looking to save money by becoming more energy self-sufficient

  • People concerned about climate change and the environment
